And now for some teasers…

“Emily Jenkins, corrupting young men. What would people say?” He tutted at me and as if by magic, I spotted an elderly lady walking along the pavement, scrunching up her nose to stare at us. – Surprise Visitor (The Darkness Through the Light Series)

When I thought I might make her lips too swollen from my rough need of her, I pulled away. Those half-open dark eyes could’ve pulled me into Hell, and I would’ve gladly followed with a stupid smile on my face. - Jeremy’s Heart (Saga of the Setti)

Even when you know it’s the right thing to do, running away from home is never easy. They’re not good people. I can’t stay here anymore. – The Runaway-Tawni’s Story (The Dwellers Saga)

He smiled and my heart melted. One look like that and I second guessed every decision I made. – Rift (The Syrenka Series)

I had to entertain myself somehow, and being around these ridiculous humans made me homesick for a land I left centuries ago. – Human Resources (The Lelia Marx Novels)

This too shall pass. I mentally repeated it over and over, hoping Nathaniel’s injury wasn’t as bad as my crumbling heart made it out to be. – The Sound of Love (The Kindrily Series)

Perhaps the hardest thing to accept about one’s fate is that it can take years to unfold. But when it does, it’s worth every second, every breath, and every dream. – Fate (Annabelle’s Story)

Review: Promises

Today is the last day of the Amber Garr series of posts! I hope you all enjoyed them and if you missed them you should definitely go back and check them out ...they were a lot of fun! Today I have the blurb of Promises and a review for you!

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

Sometimes following your heart can end up destroying the ones you love.

When seventeen-year-old Eviana Dumahl is faced with the responsibility of an arranged marriage and clan leadership, she is forced to choose between the life required of a mermaid and one of a teenage girl simply infatuated with the wrong guy. Kain, her devoted fiancĂ© would make a wonderful husband except that she’s been in love with Brendan, a shape-shifting selkie, ever since they were kids. Choosing to abandon her family, her clan, and her life with Kain will have dire consequences far beyond anything she could have imagined.

A war is brewing amongst the clans and Eviana unwittingly becomes a pawn in the intricate schemes of a twisted mastermind. With Brendan’s life on the line, she has no choice but to involve those who she once considered friends. Amidst encountering senseless tragedies and immense loss, Eviana discovers that she is more valuable as a clan leader than anyone ever suspected. Her survival is not only dependent upon the loyalty of her friends, but also on her acceptance of a life that she had so adamantly tried to escape.

Promises is the first book of The Syrenka Series trilogy following Eviana and her friends through the perils of growing up in a discrete world that inherently threatens human society.

My Review: 4 Stars
I'm really loving this mermaid thing going on!  I was really excited to discover this under sea world Amber Garr created!  Promises is full of difficult choices, heart break, and obstacles.

In the book, there is sort of this love triangle between the guys she's betrothed to, Kain, and then guy she has already given her heart over to, Brendan.  I got to say for once in my whole life I think I fell for the wrong guy in the book!  I normally pick them from the beginning, but something in me REALLY wants her to pick Kain.  I never go for the logical decisions or the one they are being forced to marry, but I just like Kain! Anyway they're both hotness and that's all that matters right?  Eh maybe that's not all that matters but it definitely keeps the story all the more interesting.

Eviana runs from responsibility, but it keeps finding her.  Even though Eviana has been a mermaid her whole life, she didn't know what was really going on in her community, so I felt I was discovering this world right along with her.  It is quite complex and I don't think it's completely unveiled until the very end when Eviana finds how powerful she really is!  I'm a sucker for kick-butt heroines and I feel like that is what Eviana is turning into!

I think anyone who enjoys mermaid stories with a few twists would really enjoy the Syrenka Series!  I can't wait to read book 2, Betrayal!
