Cover Reveal: the One

I am really excited to be presenting the cover to the wonderful Heather Self's debut! It's fabulous, and the blurb is just to die for! I really can't wait to read this one. What about you guys? Isn't the cover just captivating?

The One
by Heather Self
Releases Summer 2012

Stranded on Earth four thousand years they’ve waited for the arrival of the One: some to save her, others to kill her. With her birth, the ancient prophecy could at last be fulfilled and the doorway between the worlds would open. Those who know the prophecy believe this event occurred almost eighteen years ago, and now, they'll stop at nothing to find her.
Seventeen-year-old Eveline has lived her entire life on the move and she hates it. She knows her parents believe she’s the One, and they've done whatever it takes to stay one step ahead of those who want her dead. But Eveline isn't fully convinced that her parents' beliefs match her own. What she does believe is that Leadville, Colorado may be the chance she's been waiting for. The chance to be somewhere safe. The chance for her to make friends and have fun. The chance to finally date a guy. The chance to be a normal girl, at least as normal as possible for someone not human.

Piracy SUCKS-especially when it affects you

I use to think that this form of evil just effected authors and their work, but with very recent experiences I have found it can effect me too.  It SUCKS having to be in this position where I have to defend my reputation for something that I DID NOT DO!  Those of you who know me know that I would never do this and those of you who don't well I guess you can make a decision based on the facts.

Here is the email that I received last night.

Ok....
I've had so many problems with piraters that I marked all of the ARC's for (book title) so I would know if the books were leaked or not and who did it. I found the copy that I gave you on sharetermpapers. I've asked them to take it down.
I planned to let you know that I found it. I also saw a couple of tweets where the copy was given to someone else. I'm not sure who put it up on the site, you or the person the copy was given to, but it was there. I know these things go on, especially between book bloggers, but it really sucks for us. Especially when we trust you with something no one else has. This us my job, and I don't think it's asking too much for someone to pay a few bucks for a book. But people who get ARC's get them for free. So to turn around and give that free copy to a site where anyone can get it for free is a slap in the face.
All I plan to do is send this email and tell you that I know. A trusted friend who I confided in has gone behind my back and told others of this and has suspicions about their own copies. Although I don't condone what happened with (book title) being pirated AT ALL, this was all I planned to do was this email. Anything else you may or may not hear from anyone else is them, not me. I will not be posting anything about any if it.
I hate that this happened. I had already decided I won't be doing ARC's anymore, but I've said it all and that's it for me. I really hope nothing else comes if it, but if it does, I was not the one involved with it.

Vitality Book Tour: Interview and Giveaway

GO HERE for the details of the tour.

Vitality
by Tim Andrewartha
Published by Dam Good Publishing 2011

Summary (Goodreads)
ONE DROP AND NOTHING WILL BE THE SAME AGAIN

Set in an alternative version of the present day, Stylo Green moves to a nameless city to work for Vitality. The company is making a purple soft drink which they promise will change people’s lives – a welcome gesture in a place where society is spiralling down towards its demise.

The New Movement Party hope to win the next election and clean up the city. Real food is banned so everyone eats plastic-tasting Easy Food except the few who dare to eat illegal fruit and vegetables available on the black market. Dr. Mooseball produces recreational narcotics which are legal and a popular way to relax while Soft Dreams employs people to suck up the ghosts that float around the city.

Emulla, the girl with the beautiful voice, is different from the others. She and Stylo hit it off, and Stylo's packaging designs are chosen. Things seem to be going well for him, but he begins to notice something peculiar about his colleagues. The truth starts to unravel but not without bloodshed. When he finally faces his nemesis, nothing can prepare him for what he is about to discover.

Interview with Tim Andrewartha

What inspired you to write?

Reading great books was probably the main thing. Also wanting to express myself creatively and finding that writing was the best way for me to do this.

Do you have a dream cast for your characters?

Edward Norton as Stylo, the designer who moves to the city to work for Vitality, Robert Downey Jr. as Dack the confident taste expert who befriends Stylo. Scarlett Johansson as Emulla, the girl with the beautiful voice. Jeff Bridges as Dub, the bearded traveller. Jessica Alba as Mandy, the shallow receptionist.

What is the strangest research you have done for a book?

I’m currently working on my second book which is partly set here in Tokyo and walking about the city can be pretty strange at times.

What advice would you give to new authors?

When you finish writing the first draft of your book, be prepared that there will be a lot more work to be done before it will be ready. I never expected that there would be so much editing and rewriting. However, I’m glad that I persisted. It’s a great feeling when you do finally finish and you have something that you’re happy with.

Excerpt

The Madison Lights Ballroom is bathed in billows of precipitous baby’s breath. A blue tinted fog aligns itself with the fact tonight is a new moon.
“Your people have entranced my mother,” I say sarcastically to Logan as we enter the establishment. “She’s been going to the meet and greets with Demetri, often and willing.”
“I’ll find out what’s going on. If she’s at the meetings I’ll see her there for sure. I missed tonight’s, but there’s a follow-up three days later called the Slaughter of Plenty. It concludes the New Moon Festival.”
I don’t know whether to be frightened or impressed that Logan knows so much about the Counts. And the simple fact the phrase he just uttered contained the words slaughter and plenty, both frightens and unnaturally arouses me.

The Choice Blog Tour: Interview

OMG guys so sorry this is SO late!!! I totally forgot I was doing an interview for this tour!!! Anywho here is my interview of the lovely Lorhainne Eckhart!!!

If you could pick one song to be the theme song of your book, what would it be?

Emerson Drive – Belongs to You

If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it?

I would build affordable homes in safe family oriented communities and provide homes to single mothers with children.

What inspired you to write The Choice?

A series of unusual events reported by media and politicians in a small community I at one time lived. The characters, the storyline and events in The Choice are a work of fiction.

What is the most embarrassing thing you have ever done in public?

In my younger days, before having children when in my early twenty’s I went bungy jumping and lost my top. Need I say anymore. There’s a lot said for being older and hopefully wiser.

What is your dream cast for your characters?

Sam – Alex O’Loughlin
Marcie – Amber Marshall
Dan – Robert Pattinson
Diane – Reese Witherspoon
Maggie – Rooney Mara
Richard – John Stamos
Lance Silver – Robert Carlyle
Jesse – Rockmond Dunbar

Review: Existence

Existence
by Abbi Glines
My Rating: 5 Stars
Summary (Goodreads)
What happens when you're stalked by Death? You fall in love with him, of course.
Pagan Moore doesn't cheat Death, but instead, falls in love with him.
Seventeen year old Pagan Moore has seen souls her entire life. Once she realized the strangers she often saw walking through walls were not visible to anyone else, she started ignoring them. If she didn't let them know she could see them, then they left her alone. Until she stepped out of her car the first day of school and saw an incredibly sexy guy lounging on a picnic table, watching her with an amused smirk on his face. Problem is, she knows he's dead.
Not only does he not go away when she ignores him, but he does something none of the others have ever done. He speaks. Pagan is fascinated by the soul. What she doesn't realize is that her appointed time to die is drawing near and the wickedly beautiful soul she is falling in love with is not a soul at all.
He is Death and he's about to break all the rules.

Review

I am officially addicted to Abbi Glines!!! I had read Abbi's contemporaries The Vincent Boys and Breathe, and decided I needed to give her paranormal a try especially since people have been raving about this book since the release date! As you can probably already tell from the rating I fell in love with Abbi's paranormal too!

Gee is my favorite character in this book...this is pretty unexpected for me because I normally don't pay attention to supporting characters (especially when there is a HOT dude like Dank in the story). The second Gee showed up she had me hooked! I think when she made the twitter comment she was talking to me :/ I just loved her snarky, sarcastic attitude and how she just really didn't care what people thought (have you seen the honey badger you tube video? she is the honey badger)

My only complaint about the book is that I missed Dank when he wasn't there...Dang it! that's not a valid complaint! LOL but it totally made it better when I finished Existence, I went and read all the scenes that Abbi wrote in Dank's POV and it made it all better! I feel bad for Leif! He was a cutie, and he was a nice, endearing boyfriend...but he didn't really hold a candle to Dank! Dank the slightly masochistic, sarcastic, protective hottie!!!! SWOON <<<that is all I have to say about that! He really had Pagan wrapped around his finger but secretly she has him wrapped around her finger too ;)

This is a must read...actually let me re-phrase this...if you haven't read any of Abbi's books what are you doing with your life! Go buy one and read it now!!!

Review Copy Cleanup: Don't be Such a Tease

In this weeks challenge, we are suppose to pick up our current review copy that we are reading and share some teasers from it with you, but I'm not reading one at this moment.  Instead I decided I would share some teasers from a couple of my favorites that I've read so far this month.

"“You obviously don’t know the affect you have on me.” I smiled at his words, and he continued talking. “When you look at me and smile, I get weak in the knees. When you kiss me, I see stars. Nothing could ever compare to your beauty – no sunset, no starry night, nothing. And when you tell me you love me, my heart literally feels like it’s melting inside of my chest. It’s so surreal. I love you more than words could ever describe, and the crazy part is you love me back.” He kissed me gently on the lips; it was then my turn to see stars. "

"I was thirty years old when the seaplane T.J. Callahan and I were traveling on crash-landed in the Indian Ocean. T.J. was sixteen, and three months into remission from Hodgkin's lymphoma. The pilot's name was Mick, but he died before we hit the water."

"She wasn't anyone's to own - I knew that - but right then she was mine."

Review & Giveaway: When Destiny Knocks

When Destiny Knocks
by Heather White
My Rating: 5 Stars
Summary (Goodreads)
16 year old Karlie has had a pretty normal life... But when her Mom dies she is forced to move over 1,000 miles away to live with her Dad. That's when things start getting weird.

She can't explain the earthquakes that nobody else feels, or why she no longer sleeps. But most of all she doesn't know why she trusts Shane so much, even though his Dad wants her dead.

Suddenly, Karlie's normal life is turned upside down and she enters a world she never dreamed could really exist.

My Review

When Destiny Knocks was everything I could've imagined!  It has kick-butt heroine, an awesome paranormal world, and a SWOON worthy dude.  This book really had it all!

Karlie's mom unexpectedly dies and she is forced to move from New York to a little town in Arkansas to stay with her un-involved, workaholic, awkward dad.  I really loved experiencing the move with Karlie, and it was entertaining when Karlie was getting accustomed to Southern culture and Heather definitely portrays it perfectly!  This is just one of the many changes that Karlie has to face.

It seems like the catalyst for these changes is when Karlie lays eyes on Shane! SWOON!  I mean how can you not fall head-over-heels for a dark-haired, green eyed guy!!! But as you can probably tell from the summary a lot of problems arise from the star-crossed love, and now Shane has to figure out a way to keep Karlie safe from his own father.

Now for the paranormal!  You've got deamons, angels, trolls, ogres, werewolves, vampires, shape shifters, and witches.  Heather pretty much got it all in there!    The paranormal aspect of this book was definitely unique!  The focus wasn't really on all these creatures but more so what Karlie is becoming and how these creatures are either trying to kill her, or save her before she reaches the age of 17 and is able to reach her full power.  Karlie's powers are totally cool y'all!  She can do everything from teleportation to reading peoples minds!  She would be invincible if she was 17 but in the few months before her birthday she gets pretty close to death's door many times.  Karlie and her friends really kick- butt in this book and they are all really awesome (especially Shane, not Alex)

This action-packed romance is a must for anyone who loves the paranormal, a strong female lead, and a HOT guy!  And it will leave you dying for the sequel When Destiny Strikes coming out April 15th!

Amethyst Eyes Blog Tour: Interview

I got to interview the lovely Debbie for my stop on this Amazing blog tour! Have y'all been enjoying the blog tour so far?  If you haven't gotten a chance to join the tour yet HERE is the schedule!

If you could pick one song to be the theme song of your life, what would it be?
I love music, and identify with a lot of songs. Although I listen to everything from classical to rock, my favourite will always be country. My choice would be this one…and not about lost loves, but about the things in life that we can’t change.
LITTLE TEXAS - What Might Have Been

If you could invent a Hallmark card what would it look like?
It would have to be a painting or picture of a log cabin, nestled in the Rocky Mountains with snow covered trees, and maybe a stream close by. Smoke curling slowly from the chimney and a family of deer nearby. The warmth and comfort of home.

What is the best comeback you have ever given?
I was asked to give a martial arts demonstration. Some macho guy walks up to me (I’m 5’31/2”…) gets uncomfortably close and towers over me. He asks with a sneer, “Do you really think you can take me?” Then he looks around at the people nearby, with a smug look on his face.
I only had a fraction of a second to react, so I stood my ground and stared him right in the eyes. Never taking my eyes from his, I asked him in a cool, level voice, “Do you really want to know?”
Not the answer he was expecting…because he looked away, did an about face and left. Boy was I relieved!

If you were stuck on an island and could only bring one fictional character with you, who would it be?
Two-Feathers, or maybe Omni.

If you could go on an all expense paid trip to anywhere, where would you go?
Although there are other places I personally would like to see, sitting here in the snowy winter conditions I’d choose Florida. A fun, family vacation with my husband and kids would be nice…the beach, Disney, Sea World and then the Harry Potter theme park.

Thank you Debbie for stopping by and answering these questions! It was a delight!  Now here is where you can find Debbie and her book Amethyst Eyes!
